railmanblue You only get emails about your saved searches, if you selected to have them sent via email.

Having said that, I have not received any emails in along time. So I am not sure if it is working.

bonjour a tout, wednesday evening was a disaster here. around 4pm the power went off at our home and half the block. thankfully a small rain shower had cooled the very hot day to a bearable 84F and we had a battery operated fan. our electricity didn't return until 10:30pm. but i am very grateful to my union brothers, the linesmen (IBEW), whom i know were sweating very hard to fix the problem. they have done this in worse conditions after the hurricane season and in many other states. they should be commended for their efforts. amities, bill and donna.

Good evening all from Ottawa, Canada.

Last stamp club meeting this evening until after Labour Day.

Railman: I have not used a hotmail address in years. The bastards that run hotmail refuse to support American troops deployed overseas. As a former Canadian Armed Forces Officer, I support out NATO allies (the Americans) and dumped the account. If I ever see one of those bastards from hotmail, I'll ruin his day! E-mail me at: dbsgiles AT sympatico DOT ca, okay? Thanks!

Phil B.: Small envelope (or maybe a SuperTanker) leaving Ottawa this weekend for you.

Bobgggg : Another request to postmark some U.S. stamps, forthcoming.

Medic!!: CYE. Thank-you for your concern.

Hi folks! I am wondering if anyone knows where I might acquire the items listed below without having to take out a second mortgage. Thanks so much for your valuable time and kind consideration. Authentic Signature of Old-Time Bodybuilders such as John Grimek Greg Bahnsen Cds on the Exposition of the Book of Revelation Original Old Horror Movie Posters VHS or DVD "Griffin and Phoenix: A Love Story (Peter Falk) VHS or DVD "Pay or Die" (Earnest Borgnine) VHS or DVD "Dracula" (Bela Lagosi) Supra Butterfly for Triceps Push-Downs I do have a hand-signed 8" x 10" color photo of Joe Montana (arguably the greatest NLF quarterback) and a hand-signed 12" x 14" color photo of Rollie Fingers arguably the greatest MLB relief pitcher). Both come with a reputable COA. I also have a beautiful hand-crafted men's 14 karat gold cross ring and a very heavy 14 karat gold men's wedding band available for cash or trade. If you have any of the items listed above, would you like to barter? Or let me know what you would like to trade. Thanks again. -Lou (hesed2koncsol@yahoo.com)

Sorry to say you've been had by a SPAMMER. Have been getting ones like the one you got and many others for sometime now, just about all come into my SPAM folder. As CC Mouse told you, never, never follow any e-mail links to so called Paypal web sites. Use only the real Paypal site you should have in your bookmarks when you signed on to Paypal.

Posted by: railmanblue (2628)       On: 7/29/2010 3:16:26 PM
JCHALE: I believe that CCmouse is correct you have been spooked with take over of your account.

JCHALE: I visited my Paypal site and read all the rules and regs, note this one:

"Information. In order to determine the risk associated with your PayPal Account, PayPal may request at any time, and you agree to provide, any information about your business, operations or financial condition. We reserve the right to reassess your eligibility for any Product if your business is materially different from the information you provided in your application."

JCHALE: paypalwarning.com is NOT affiliated with paypal. You may have already opened yourself up to damage by going to the site. The registrant of that domain has paid to hide his/her/their identity. Paypal openly lists their business address. Hopefully you have not been infected by a worm and it was only a phishing scheme. Security warning to all: NEVER follow a link to one of your banking sites. Use your bookmark to go directly.

I called them too and the rep says some kind of new Fed law and everyone eventually will have to provide this info,,,WHOS NEXT!! They told me that my money will be held until i comply and say its in their user agreement and there is nothing i can do about it but send the info,,,,NOT. I like paypal but they are not getting all that info. Everyone on here needs to go to www.paypalwarning or paypalsucks.com and read the horror stories about paypal.

The URL for Paypal should be Paypal.com and in the bottom of your computer screen it should show that you are on a secure site.

Not a spoof,,went to paypal web site says my account is limited and got a ligit email requesting a document with my ss#, a copy of my DL or passport with pic, and a copy of a credit card bill or utility bill. Went to paypalwarning.com and seems this is happening to thousands of people. I can put money in but cant take it out. They say they can hold your money for 180 days and if you want a reason you have to get a court order and subpeona them to find out why account is limited.

Dbsgiles, sorry not to get to the Precancels in my collection, will look soon and e-mail you some lists.

Stellaland issued five values of postage stamps in February 1884. They are crudely printed affairs, using the coat of arms as design, and inscribed "REPUBLIEK / STELLALAND". Unused examples can be had today for 20 US$, but genuinely used copies are much rarer, usually hundreds of dollars in price. Sometime in 1885 the word "TWEE" (two) was overprinted on a few of the 4-pence stamps, making them into 2-pence values. These are quite rare, selling at auction for several thousand dollars when they appear. It is not clear whether they were official government issues, or privately produced, perhaps as political propaganda (the use of stamps having recently become nearly universal worldwide).

Bobgggg: Please confirm if your grandson is collecting U.S. precancels. If that's the case... I'll send some to you. I send my duplicates/unwanted to Phil B., but I can send the second wave, of stuff I've already sent to Phil, to you.

A VERY GOOD wink DAY TO ALL

David Giles

Glad to hear Duck & Cover arrived ok & the PO Clerk got a good cancel on your return mailing cover.
Did notice today, there are few perfins in the collection I picked up yesterday, so will try to get them out to you, for you to check over. If you can't use them, send them back the next time you send stamps for the Vets, cause in the end, thats probably where they'll be going.
Thanks for the Feedback

CrazyBob of Many Gs
Is the grandson still collecting Pre-Cancels, if so looks like I'll be sending you some with the cover you won from me.

1953 - Koean War armistice signed at Panmunjon, Korea and Korean cease-fire went into effect at 10:00 PM.
Sadly there is still no formal end to this War, we still lose members of our military to the North Koreans, let alone what the ROK has lost over the years since the "cease-fire" was signed.

Good afternoon all from Ottawa, Canada.

Medic!!: You are correct about Mr. Bileski... a grand gentleman of Canadian philately.

CPO II Sneeky: Duck, and cover; duck, and cover.... the duck and the cover arrived this afternoon. (It is my day off) Thank-you. Your efforts for getting the stamps hand-cancelled were fruitful, and the one I really needed came through the post beautifully. Positive feedback was left.

bonjour lt. giles, mr. gitner also gives the stamp tips in linn's stamp news. he is highly regarded in the field of philately. but i miss one other noted canadian philatelist, now passed, mr. bileski. i had some nice egyptian stamps from king farouk's collection that were on cards signed by kasimir. he was truly the king of collectors, and did this hobby for over 80 years. :) amities, bill. Good evening all from Ottawa, Canada.

Phil B.: Henry Gitner is a good man. We deal with him at work.

CPO II Sneeky: Yup... we could be in the mess drinking our faces off! Stamp collecting is far better for the soul.

Big Jose: Hope we see you at your stamp club when we are down to Red Hook in October.

Thats a Type 9 cancel, pretty common & it had the longest life of all types of cancels in the Locy System . Postal service called it a "validator stamp", or "round dater" cancel. Normally a type 9 would not have "killer bars". Navy Mail clerks were known to remove the original dial from another cancel & replace it with the dial of a type 9, especially after WWII.
BTW That cover isfrom the Hunting which was a Cruiser,(CL-107)

A VERY GOOD wink EVENING TO ALL

Been a good productive day, went out for the afternoon to look at a stamp collection an elder lady in a few towns away, wanted to unload.

After looking it over, suggested that if she would like I'd take it off her hands, or she could try to yard sale it, as not enough in the whole lot to bother with taking it to a dealer.

Most of it appears to be pretty common material, so suggested if she decided to give it to me, would probably be sending most of it out to our disabled veterans.
After we chatted for awhile, she suggested i take it and see what I could do with it.
There are two albums with stamps in them & two empty albums, several stockbooks & one heck of a lot of lose stamps to sort through.
Like I told her, think most is going to end up with the Vets, but who knows, may find somthing I can use. Nothing lost when it was free for the picking up. Will let Y'all know if I find anything good.

I never seen a two ring naval cancel before:

1946 U.S.S. Huntington cancel postal card.
"FIRST DAY IN COMMISSION" in bars.

1940 U.S.S. Badger cancel postal card
"BALBOA CANAL ZONE" in bars.

As you can see,by regs.,all fractional postage stamps can be added together to arrive at the correct postage. I have a mailer's permit with my own cancel machine, another permit available by using form 3615. Also you can mail one letter or parcel at a time, no ned to have 100 mailings with these various permits per form 3615. Go to the USPS site to read about the form's useages.

update: bulk rate stamps are not valid for first class postage unless you have a permit on file at your local P.O. and mail 200+ of the same thing at one time.
